Happy Saint Nicholas Day.
Here’s the tag I made for my husband to accompany his gift (I did not place it in his shoe).
It was last year when I said to Mr. B. –after years of seeking out surprisingly rare dark chocolate Santas to give him on Saint Nicholas Day — “Would you prefer those 99% cacao dark chocolate bars you like for a Saint Nicholas Day gift, over a chocolate Santa?”
Without hesitation, he said “yes.”
I’m unreasonably, illogically miffed by this, not only because it seems as if one should get something Santa-shaped for Saint Nicholas Day, but because I maintain that these high cacao content chocolate bars are promulgated by some nefarious interest whose intent is to make chocolate into a Bad Idea, maybe by giving it to people who have never had chocolate before and think that this is what chocolate is supposed to be.
I told you I was being unreasonable and illogical.
NB: Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of children, coopers, sailors, fishermen, merchants, broadcasters, the falsely accused, repentant thieves, brewers, pharmacists, archers, pawnbrokers, Galway, Russia, Greece, Liverpool, Lorraine and the Duchy of Lorraine.
Also, it’s true about dark chocolate and late reserve Zinfandel.
