Good news for the folks who helped out my friend Amy B. by donating to her GoFundMe: your special (unlimited) edition Night Cats trading card is on its way to you. (I told you the final version would be better than my original draft.)
Would you like your very own Night Cats trading card? It’s not too late — just donate to Amy’s GoFundMe (details below).
Some special features of these handmade one-of-a-kind cards:
–they are personally, and lovingly, inscribed to you!
–they are enclosed in a handmade envelope created from fancy paper — made in Nepal “from the renewable fibers of the Lokta plant” — & printed (by Nepalese artisans) with a star and moon pattern in metallic inks
–the envelopes are stamped & sealed with sealing wax (with varying degrees of success, but I am getting better at it😁)

–the lightning bugs GLOW IN THE DARK, thanks to phosphorescent ink made by the French company J. Herbin, the oldest ink manufacturer in the world (they’ve been around since 1670!). And everyone knows glow in the dark things are AWESOME! (There are way too many exclamation points in this post!)
If you like this card and would like to own one, here’s what to do and how to do it:
–Go to Amy’s GoFundMe page.
–Make a donation of at least $20 to Amy’s GoFundMe. (If you can’t afford that, but would still like to help, drop me an email at the address below and maybe we can work something out, like me sending you a mini-artwork.)
–E-mail me (kellykomics [at] earthlink [dot] net) and let me know you donated. (If you have never emailed me before, my Internet provider will send you a vaguely alarming spam warning. Don’t worry; I will receive your email.)
–You can enclose a screenshot of your receipt/donation acknowledgement, but this is optional. I will take your word for it. You will have to provide me with your mailing address.
–In return, I will send you a hand-drawn artist trading card, 3.5″ x 2.5″, featuring the design shown above. (Since they’re hand-drawn, there will be slight variations between each card.)
–If you donate, it would be helpful if you could send $1 my way to cover postage — the actual postage is 70 cents, so let’s just say the extra 30 cents will help cover the trip to the post office — but it’s okay if you don’t.
–Allow at least a couple of weeks for me to complete your card and get it to you, because I am The World’s Slowest Artist.
I’m intentionally not calling this a “limited edition” because I will make as many of these as people want!
Thanks in advance for your help.
And I’ll repeat what I said when I posted my original offer: Please take a couple of minutes to review these guidelines for colorectal cancer screenings and make sure you get the appropriate procedures if you’re due. Talk to your physician if you have questions or concerns!
Yes, colonoscopies — and preparing for colonoscopies — can be uncomfortable.
But I can guarantee you that colorectal cancer is much worse.
