In early sketches for this page, I’d drawn actual monsters, with fangs, horns, scales, claws, the works.
I wasn’t happy with them, and then it occurred to me that maybe –since everyone has their own, specific monsters; everyone’s monsters are different — just the suggestion of monsters might be enough. People’s imaginations can just fill in the rest.
